Treauring Time

Art Nouveau Peacock Design Tool

The art style Árt Nouveau' was organic, feminine , and free flowing without restriction of lines or space. In today's world I find that designers sometimes get lost in the need to deliever beautiful organic design, because of a growingly fast and technological world.

The tool aims to help designers stimulate ideas based on organic form from Beard Beasley's painting 'Peacock Skirt''. In this way the interactive tool, featuring a light feature based on artifucal or natural light, whereby the user can edit there own curves and form through rotation and trace these. Each template also slides up from the top of the stand, and thus the sleepers become handles to easily manourve the templates on a flat surface.

Transparent perspex was used to create a dreamy effect, as the art nouveau style was seen as coming from a fantasy world. The pale colours, also add a modern touch to the tool to attract a wider target market. More so, the feature when not in use is an instresting scultural form.

A mirror in the form of a womens face as seen in the 'Peacock shirt' painting was used as a device to reflect the colours and form from all angles, thus the notion of treasuring time looks the user into the face. More so, feminity was seen as a striving force in the period.

Miss Hollie Baigent.. I love it! Where can i buy one. And I have to agree that sometimes i find it difficult to create beautiful curvaceous forms when we are surrounded by so many modern sleek, sophisticated and technological products.
I also like the idea that the individual templets can be removed as well as utilized all together.
The only advice i have to offer is if the product came with spare acrylic so that when the user created a curvaceous form that they were proud of then they could create there own template to add to the product.
Otherwise well done xxx

I have to agree with katherine, the way you came around this is just awesome!! Even though our society has so many sleek and technological products you still managed to make a beautiful smooth and curved design.

Good work

i have something of a soft spot for art nouveau.
this product makes those feminine forms so much more readily accessible and encourages creativity and different ways of approaching design instead of simply reproducing the forms that are highly visible in todays corporate world.
a possible improvement would be to employ an art nouveau palette/colour scheme to the different pieces (but of course when making your model colour choice is subject to availability).
i'm not sure what else to add.
erm...
nice.

I really love the forms you have chosen and the way that you have constructed your model.
So many times Ive sat at my desk trying to draw the perfect curve with little success.I think this would suit if not all then most ages groups.

Good Work...

An great simple yet effective design.

The use of perspex ensures durability and the opaqueness although you have said it was used to create a dreamy effect, it is useful because you can see through them to see what you have already done.

The ability to swap around all of the pieces also generates creativity and a personal touch.

Overall a great design with great use of the subject matter.
